Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is definitely a Tim Burton film, and that’s a good thing in my opinion. Willy Wonka is basically a kid who never grew up—he likes childish things and doesn’t understand adults. And his excitement is played perfectly by Johnny Depp. Like in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie is the “pure” kid—but in this movie he’s also the moral center, which is kind of a neat twist I think.

In the previews and trailers I noticed that Willy Wonka looks a bit “goth” with the brown suit and dark/pale skin. Mid-way through the movie it occurred to me that his look isn’t “goth,” it’s chocolate!
