Wide-angle star trails.

Wide-angle star trails.

I have been trying to create some star trails where I’m able to show Polaris with all of the other stars circling around it. I try to eyeball the camera towards the star to get it positioned. As evidenced by my previous attempts, I have been unsuccessful.

So, last night I decided to just use the wide angle lens (in the 35 mm format, this photo is 15 mm wide), because it should be easy to capture Polaris. Obviously I was wrong. Sigh.

So, my new plan of attack is to use our latitude (41.747299°) to try and position the camera. Maybe math and science will be my friend and grant me success!
