Southern Sky Star Trails

Southern Sky Star Trails

A few nights ago the sky was clear so I set up the camera outside. I was disappointed when I took a look at the results because clouds were constantly rolling in and out of the frame, so it was unsuitable to make star trails. Well, the first hour of results looked pretty good so I thought I’d try stacking it, and this was the result.

As the photos were stacking to create the star trail, I noticed that the bottom right corner was a bit more vibrant. That area is made up of Orion’s Belt, and the Great Nebula of Orion, as well as some other bright stars. I’ll have to try to better feature them in a future shoot. The bright white star in the upper left streaming across the right is Betelgeuse.
