We went to Wright’s Orchard with our friend Jeff to pick some apples (to make applesauce) and find a few pumpkins. I snapped this photo when we were looking for pumpkins.
I think I’d like this photo a lot more if I used a larger aperture to create a shallower depth of field. As it is, the focus is on Patrick, and Jeff and Sherree are just a little out of focus. In fact, because Patrick is such a small part of the frame the photo almost seems completely out of focus: the background, the pumpkins, and Jeff and Sherree are all out of focus. If more of the scene were out of focus Patrick would be better emphasized and that fun smile he has would be more evident.
