Patrick and I have previously played with my childhood Legos a few times. Usually, he just asks me to make more and more cars and some of them are nothing more than a brick holding two wheels together just so I can keep up with his requests. The pieces are small and he just hasn’t had the coordination or patience to push the blocks together, nor did he seem to understand how the pieces should be assembled in a certain way to make things like cars.
When we were playing the other day he surprised me, though! While I was building a car he began rooting through pieces, as always. However, he began to assemble his pieces and built a car of his own. And then another and another, each with a few more pieces including a seat, driver, and “engine.”
