Time To Move On
Nearly one-and-a-half years ago Sherree and I moved from Middletown to Bristol, about a half-hour away. I planned to leave Troop 16 not long after that, however the Scoutmaster, Bill, asked me to stick around. The Iraq conflict was growing and Bill expected to be shipped over in the near future. So, I stayed with Troop 16 in Middletown and filled in as the Scoutmaster as best I could.
Fast-forward about 12 months. After a year-long tour of duty Bill returned in early March. I think I served the Troop well (through things like Scout Skills Jeopardy and unique Court of Honor rank advancement ceremonies), but I was happy to return the Scoutmaster hat to Bill.
Last Sunday we had a short Court of Honor where, amongst other things, I was thanked for my help with a small plaque. This was also my last meeting with Troop 16. I'm thinking that in the fall I'll find a new Troop closer to home to join.
Above is a photo Sherree took of Bob, the Committee Chairman, shaking my hand and handing me the plaque--also shown above. The photo of the plaque is one that shows off the fact that I really need to buy more flashes to develop more of a studio environment so that I can improve my photographic skills.
