Epson Stylus Photo 1270/Creative Memories Glossy Inkjet Photo Paper ICC Profile
This past week Sherree wanted to use some of her Creative Memories glossy inkjet photo paper in the Epson Stylus Photo 1270 printer. Rather than making a print and hoping the color looked ok, or making numerous prints and adjustments to get the desired result, I simply made an ICC profile for the paper.
This printer/paper profile is one step in the color management process. The profile accurately describes how to reproduce a specific color on specific paper on a specific printer. Therefore, this profile is only good for those using an Epson 1270 and Creative Memories glossy inkjet photo paper.
Download the file (about 1.3MB) and save it to your system. On a Mac put the profile in your ColorSync Profiles folder (in the System folder); on a PC running some flavor of Windows itll go in c:\windows\system32\color or c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color.
When printing, be sure you're using only one profile. On a Windows system the easiest way is probably to look at the printer properties and the Color Management tab. Browse to this profile and Manually set it as the default When printing--and if you have the option--select Printer Color Management or no profiles. (Of course, there are many other ways to use the profile, too. For details you might want to refer to Using Printer Profiles.)
If you're interested, I built this profile with a TC9.18 RGB printer testchart, GretagMacbeth Spectrolino and ProfileMaker 4 software.
