The Shawshank Redemption Review
To me, The Shawshank Redemption is kind of a funny movie. When I think about the movie, I remember it as upbeat and positive: despite being wrongly convicted of murder, Andy (the main character) remains positive, builds a library, helps guards take care of their financial future and--in the end--lives a happy life. When I actually watch the movie, though, it strikes me as sad and somewhat torturous: Andy is constantly beat (and worse) by The Sisters, guards beat prisoners to within inches of their lives, plus dealing with corruption within the prison. I suppose the movie is actually all of that, and more.
