American Gladiators Review

I, of course, watched American Gladiators through the 90s and loved it. And so, I had to watch the new version of American Gladiators, too. It's a lot of fun and I'm definitely enjoying it. Unlike so many remakes, I think they've done a good job of keeping the fun action and campiness of the original.

The events are all exciting. I'm pretty sure Earthquake is new, but I think the others are all the old stand-bys. Gauntlet, Joust, and Pyramid may be my favorites. I don't particularly like the trash-talk/wrestling feel the gladiators all have, though having more individual personality than the original gladiators is nice. I preferred the old costumes of red, white, and blue with stars and stripes to better emphasize the "American" Gladiator. A lot of the chatter is very scripted, it seems, which I could do without. However, brother, Hulk Hogan as host makes up for that, brother!
