Live Free or Die Hard Review

Die Hard is without a doubt one of the best action movies ever. Die Hard 2: Die Harder and Die Hard: With a Vengeance had a lot to live up to and, while good movies, were certainly nowhere near the level of the the first. We recently watched Live Free or Die Hard, and it is a completely worthwhile companion to the original!

I think both Die Hard and Live Free or Die Hard were both so good because they have a similar simple formula: keep the action and storyline fantastic, but just this side of believable. I know it's funny to think of these movies as believable, but compared to other high-energy action films, I think they are. For example, John McClane isn't a super-soldier who doesn't feel pain and is unstoppable--he gets hurt, he bleeds, and he makes tough choices.

How many times did McClane yell "head down!" at Farrell? "You just killed a helicopter with a car!" was a fantastic scene. Kevin Smith's minor role was great.
