My favorite radio control car manufacturer is Tamiya, who is based in Japan. Similarly, I know that RC (especially from Tamiya and Kyosho) are very popular in Japan. Even so, I didn’t intend to hunt out any hobby shops while visiting — I wouldn’t have room for a kit, for example, in luggage. While walking through the city of Akihabara I saw the big TamTam Hobby Shop sign and couldn’t resist dragging Aaron and Charlie in. It didn’t disappoint! It was clearly the largest hobby shop I’ve been in! Plus, it was filled almost exclusively with Tamiya cars and trucks (and many manufacturers of the related pieces of gear you might shop for). No sign of Team Associated, Losi, or Traxxas.
