Pet Update

It’s been quite a while since we mentioned our pets, so this morning I decided to grab a few photos to share.

Oh Pinball. She still chases Mikey away sometimes, but is coming to tolerate him more. She has recently started hiding under the big chair in the living room, which only has a few inches of clearance because of short legs so she’s certainly squeezing pretty hard to get under there. As I recently wrote, she smushes her head into my arm every day but isn’t looking for me to pet her.

Mikey still stays in our bedroom a lot of the time, but he will often wander out to the dining or living room, typically to get a little sunlight from the windows. I’ve seen him venture down the hall towards the office, which is an area Pinball typically protects pretty well. He just pokes his head around and meanders off. He’s terrified of the vacuum and will run of as soon as I touch it—let alone plug it in or turn it on!

Goober likes to sleep late into the evening, then wakes up and gets active about the time we’re going to bed. We let her out into her ball—which she loves—but she needs to get up earlier to have more time in it! She hasn’t escaped [1, 2] again, though we have been more diligent about locking the cage and keeping watch of her.

A few weeks ago Sherree went to the pet store to find some fitting animals for a science classroom. She found a betta fish and this dwarf hamster. Students have given him a few different names. During the week he lives in the classroom, but he spends the weekends at home with us. The fish stays in the classroom over the weekend. I don’t know if he has a name (nor do I have a photo of him).

Way back when I worked at the ARRL, I had an office where I could keep a fish tank, which I enjoyed. For the last few years the fish have been sitting at home and I haven’t been able to enjoy them as much. However, having them in my home office now is great, and I want to get more!
